Flower Child

Hi everyone, it is hot here today! It was 102 when I picked the kids up from camp at one o'clock! Yikes!

I need a birthday card for my niece for July 15th, she'll be four. This image of Flower Child from the Designed2Delight digi store looks just like Elizabeth, so I had to use it. Funny thing though is that she isn't really a girly girl, she wants Thomas the Tank Engine trains for her birthday, but I think she'll like this card anyway.

I love this little girl's daisy skirt, daisies are one of my favorite flowers. I have potted Gerbera Daisies out front this year and they seem to be weathering the heat pretty well, with lots of water.

I used sketch #35 from Tuesday Morning Sketches for the layout. They are having a month long celebration for their first birthday. They post great challenges every week. This week we could pick any sketch from the past year, so I went with #35.

Here you can see the inside of my card, Party Time Tuesdays had a challenge to decorate the inside this week. I hardly ever do that, so I kept it simple and just carried over some of the scallops and dsp. Love the look, really finishes a card nicely. Have to remember to do that more often.

Thanks for stopping by today, hope you are having a great week so far!

Card Recipe:
Stamps: Flower Child digi from Designed2Delight, sentiment from PTI
Ink: Printer, Palette Noir
Paper: GP110, Lemon Tart, New Leaf, MME patterned
Embellishments: copics, nesties, stickes, recollections brads, PTI ribbon, cuttlebug embossing border, EK success border punch

Cheerful Chelsea for the 2S4Y challenge

Today Sassy Studio Designs is sponsoring the 2S4Y challenge blog's weekly challenge. Play along and you could win a $25 gift certificate to use on SSD images. The theme is summer and it is a sketch challenge. I used Cheerful Chelsea for my image, and I thought the bright floral Basic Grey June Bug paper was summery.

If you get a chance go and check out the challenge.

Thanks for stopping by today. Hope you are enjoying your summer. My two older ones started camp today and had a blast. We are having a heat wave, it was 100 degrees yesterday, so they've been not able to play outside much. It was good for them to get to camp today and meet up with some old and new friends. Hope you are staying cool where ever you are.

American Hero

I just bought this new set from Verve called American Hero. How perfect is this for sending cards to the troops? My family and I recently adopted a soldier overseas and we send him a card weekly and a package monthly. So this card is on the way to him. I know this Verve set will be put to good use for sending him mail!

Hope you all had a happy and safe fourth of July. We didn't get to see any fireworks yesterday, but enjoyed cooking out.

Thanks for dropping by today!

Saturday, July 3, 2010

So glad the weekend is here! Planning to relax a bit while hubby gets some quality time with the kids, LOL. I need a little break.

This card is for the June VLV Verve challenges on SCS. Each week they post a sketch and a choice of rooms for inspiration. This was inspired by a yellow and green little girl's bedroom with a really cool daisy comforter.
Love this sketch, too, definitely one I could see using over and over.

Thanks for stopping by today. To all my American friends, have a happy and safe fourth of July!

D2D Blog Hop

TGIF! Welcome to the first Designed2Delight blog hop. The design team will be showcasing Faith's new images today. And at the end of the hop you will find out how to get the first free stamp for the Delightful Inspiration blog challenge for July. If you just happened on my blog, you can go to Delightful Inspiration and start at the beginning. Hope you'll hop along, grab the freebie and play with us in the progressive challenge this month.

For my card I used Hula Island, which will go on sale in the Designed2Delight digi store today. I think this little penguin standing on a melting block of ice is just too cute! I love all of Faith's cheerful images, this one is already on the way to my Chemo Angel buddy, who could really use some cheer. Figured the darling image and bright colors should brighten her day a bit.

I used the this week's sketch from Midnight Madness sketch challenges (MMSC60). I chose the simpler version and turned it sideways.

Thanks so much for dropping by today. Now, hop on over to Debbie's blog and see what she has created.

Card Recipe:
Stamps: D2D Hula Island
Ink: printer
Paper: gp110, Real Red, Yoyo Yellow, Tempting Turquoise, PTI New Leaf, DCWV patterned
Embellishments: copics, stickles, crystal effects, SU ribbon, SU corner rounder and border punches

Blog Candy Winners

Hello friends, I threw all the names into my KY Derby hat and did the picking today. As I mentioned before you got thrown in twice if you were a follower. So the blog candy winner is Emily from inemscloset. And the special gift for a follower (105 yards of ribbon and 105 pieces of 6x6 patterned paper) goes to Anne from Stargroves. If you both contact me with your addy, I'll get them mailed out on Tuesday.

Thanks to all who played. I really enjoyed all your sweet comments! I plan to do another little candy soon to celebrate another milestone!

Have a happy and safe fourth of July weekend!

Sassy Studio Designs New July Release

Hello and Happy July first! My gosh where did June go? Today is the July release at Sassy Studio Designs. I've created a few wedding related cards and a little gift box to share with you. The images I've used are the Bride and Bridesmaid. They are available starting today.

This first card is something I've been wanting to create for a while. A mostly white card. It has lots of texture from the embossing folder and the nestability fleur di lis die. Her gown and roses are stickled up for a bit of sparkle.

Now on to the next card, this bridesmaid image was so much fun to color. She would be perfect for thank you notes to the ladies in your bridal party after a shower. Or to go along with a special wedding party gift.

And don't you think that looks like a bridesmaid dress you actually could wear again? I did this one with the something old, new, borrowed and blue challenge in mind. The image is new, the patterned paper is old, the color is blue, and the borrowed is the stitching from my MIL's sewing machine.

Now, this is my favorite project out of the three. I love to dress up a gift. Especially a gift card. Seems like now a days when I go to showers, gift cards are very popular. Wouldn't one look sweet in this little box? I also colored her dress in a different color to show how versatile she is. She definitely could be used for a sweet sixteen or coming out party. Often they are very formal, so she would be great to use for that, too. I like to get lots of use out of every image!

And here is my wedding pic. I've been married for just over 9 years. Our wedding was so much fun, we always say we would do it all over again if we could!

Now if you made it all the way to the end of the post, thanks for hanging in there with me, I had a lot to share. So your reward for the Sassy Studio Designs scavenger hunt is Wedding Gown. Check out the info on the SSD blog, if you play along you will have a chance to win three images!

Thanks for dropping by today. I'm not going to list every item used on each project. If you have an questions just ask. Have a great day!
